My wife and I recently welcomed our first child at HH. Our experience was a stark mix of wonderful care and severe disappointment. The Good: First, we want to give a massive shout-out to Maile and Stephanie and some other nurses/staff who took care of us! They were absolutely amazing during our first two days. They were incredibly caring, supportive, and attentive, making us feel safe and cared for as we welcomed our newborn. They truly have a passion for their patients. The Bad: Unfortunately, our experience shifted drastically on our final day with our nurse, Purdy. She introduced herself at 7 AM and then completely vanished. She did not check on us, offer reassurance, or provide basic postpartum support a single time throughout the day until she returned at 5:00 PM for discharge. To make matters worse, when we preparing to leave and asked for extra basic necessary supplies (A&D ointment, wipes, and formula) to help us transition through our first week at home, Purdy was incredibly stingy and dismissive. She acted as though the supplies were coming out of her own pocket, refusing to provide what we needed. It simply seems like Purdy was just a lazy nurse doing the minimum to collect paychecks. The contrast between Purdy's minimal effort and the wonderful care we received from Maile and Stephanie was disappointing. We hope hospital management reviews Purdy's patient care standards, as new parents deserve far more support than she provided.

I recently spent a night at Huntington Hospital and received exceptional care from Hortencia and Teresa, the Registered Nurses on the West wing. These two are truly outstanding; they didn't just perform their duties—they showed genuine, authentic compassion throughout my stay. I felt incredibly well-cared for and truly appreciated their dedication and determination to ensure my comfort and recovery. They are a credit to the hospital. Kudos to them both. Francisco Collazo

On December 5th, 2024, I was sideswiped by an SUV while riding my motorcycle on the 210 Freeway. I was taken by ambulance to Huntington Hospital’s Trauma Unit. What happened there was one of the worst experiences of my life — and not because of the accident. During my CT scan, technicians accidentally introduced contrast dye into the wrong line. The pain was immediate and intense — like peanut butter being forced through my veins. I screamed. They pulled me out, apologized, and put me back in. I believe the chaos from that mistake rattled the team and contributed to what happened next. The reviewing doctor told me nothing was wrong with me and refused to prescribe any pain medication beyond Tylenol. I told them I could barely stand. I told them I didn’t feel safe to leave. They weren’t concerned — they were focused on getting me out of that bed. I had to beg for a wheelchair to get out of the building. The entire time, I felt like I was being treated as a drug seeker or even as the person who caused the accident, not as the victim of reckless driving who had just been hit by an SUV at freeway speed. I went home broken and suffering because I had no choice. A few days later, the pain from bones shifting and cracking with every movement became unbearable. I went to my local Kaiser Urgent Care. They identified my injuries almost immediately: multiple broken ribs, damage to both knees, and a shoulder that was not only fractured but torn from the labrum. Huntington Hospital’s trauma team missed all of it. I am lucky none of those injuries were life-threatening when left undiagnosed and untreated. Others may not be so lucky. The doctors there don’t look at you — they look past you. If you have a real choice in where you’re taken, choose somewhere that will actually treat you like a patient.

I had to bring my mother to the ER and we were scene by the x/ray tech within 30 minutes. Staff was empathetic and Mindful. My mother had a bed with the next 30 mins and she was scheduled for surgery first thing in the morning. I am beyond grateful and thankful for all the doctors help. 10/10

Huntington Hospital provided excellent care during our stay. The doctors, nurses, and staff were compassionate, attentive, and kept us informed every step of the way. The only downside was the parking it can be challenging and expensive for families spending long days at the hospital. Other than that, our experience was very positive, and we’re grateful for the care we received.
